Hi Angela, This was an interesting entry. As a non-Italian, when I was a kid, I never got the mannigut (that's what the pronunciation sounded like to me) thing. I used to try to get my Italian friends to pronounce it the "right way", maneecottee! Now, of course I know it is the Italian pronunciation. What is also interesting about the post was her explanation of the separateness of the peoples of Italy. I first understood the true nature of Italy this fall when Prof. Paolo Palombo came a spoke at our Rotary Club for Columbus Day. He was not only informative, but he was hysterical! I loved him!
